It was finally cool enough the other day to bust out my absolute favorite Michael Kors riding boots! YES! And to wear a look that actually looks like it's fall already. About time...amiright? I was in a preppy mood and felt like channeling my inner Blair Waldorf. That meant reaching for my favorite green sweater and plaid skirt to pair with my riding boots. Move over, Upper East Siders.

This dark forrest green is easily one of my favorite colors, especially for the fall and winter months. There is something so incredibly cozy about this color that makes me want to curl up and relax. Plus my hair has red tones...and if your's does too, you know that means you should wear ALL OF THE GREEN because it's seriously our color. The green sweater was my fall version of a pop color to an otherwise neutral outfit.

I paired my forrest green sweater with a classic grid style skirt. This skirt seriously goes with everything. It's another one of those classic "closet staples" that I always seem to be rambling about. This particular one is from H&M and is long past sold out. Luckily, it's such a classic look that it keeps coming back in style over and over again in several stores. I've linked a couple of my current favorites at the end of the post.

Finally, I rounded out this preppy Blair-esc green sweater and plaid skirt ensemble with some chic accessories. My Michael Kors riding boots in a deep coffee color are my number one go-to shoes to pair with a mini skirt in the fall. I love that they are flats and work well for day-time looks. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally in love with those over-the-knee high heel boots...but those are hardly day-to-day shoes. At least not for me. This girl likes to be somewhat comfortable during the day. I also carried one of my favorite Kate Spade bags in a rich cognac color that just seems like THE color of fall. It's the bag I carry most often when the temps drop.

What is your favorite look to rock as it starts to get cooler outside?
