Recently, Drew and I went back to Lubbock, TX for a friend's wedding. Lubbock is home of Texas Tech University, our Alma Mater. I hadn't been back to Lubbock or the Tech campus since I graduated and left a few years ago. It was a surreal feeling going back and exploring the campus through the eyes of an alumni, and honestly, through the eyes of a blogger. It wasn't until I wanted to go do photoshoots for the blog on campus that I quite realized just how beautiful the campus really is. These photos were taken at the English/Philosophy building.
Since we went back to Lubbock in August, it was almost unbearably hot. Luckily, Lubbock is a dry heat so you don't have to worry about all of the sticky grossness that goes with the humidity like we have hear in Chicago. I wanted to wear something chic and breathable for the trip.
My floral flowy top is perfect for warm days. I'm pretty pale, so I didn't want to show too much skin, but I didn't want to be burning up in something covered either. This floral top was the perfect combination. It's three-quarter sleeve so it kept me sheltered from the sun, but it's a lightweight breathable material that kept me from getting too hot. I also love that it's a long tunic. You can't tell tucked into these shorts, but it's at a really great tunic length.
I knew we would be on the move and Lubbock is known for being incredibly windy, so I went with shorts. These bold, red high-waisted shorts are easily one of my favorite pieces in my closet. Plus they are only $18! They are perfect for minimizing a waist while emphasizing hips, for a great retro style look. Plus they make a really fun statement!
