Lately I've been really into corduroy pants because they are so stylish, incredibly soft, and perfect for transitioning to fall. But you all know me well enough to know by now, that I can't sit by and spend every cold day of fall and winter in various shades of denim! That's why I was so excited to find out that Talbots, one of my favorite stores to shop at for killer, well-made staples, carries these fabulous straight leg cords in 14 colors! YES! Move over cold weather, I'm going to be rocking these fabulous colors all fall and winter long!
I've been told before that cords are "just for the day time". Pfft, says who? I'm going to show you two looks today rocking some amazing straight leg cords: one for the day time and one for those fabulous nights out!
Quick side note before I dive into these cords. Can we stop for a moment and gush over these berry loafers?? Have you ever seen such a stunning color?? I instantly fell in love with them the moment I saw them on the Talbots site! AND they come in 15 freaking colors!! You know I'm a firm believer of buying a staple you love in every color! Believe me when I say, I will eventually own these in every color because they are perfection. They are the perfect style to wear casually and dress up, but they are actually really comfortable. Seriously. No joke. My boyfriend already laughs because he swears I wear the berry ones every day (which...I pretty much do; all the more reason to buy all of the other colors!)
My only recommendation is SIZE DOWN! I'm typically a 8.5 in almost everything, but those fell right off of my feet AND these stretch out (kind of like Toms). The size 8 was a perfect fit! Now someone please go buy me all of the colors, okay?
For my daytime cord look, I went with my plaster color cords. I love the soft neutral color of these. It's different enough from denim, and still makes a statement without being too loud. I love a good monochromatic neutral look, and I think they are so chic. I paired the cords with a cream cable knit sweater and a light blush motorcycle jacket. I added the flats as a pop of color, but these flats also come in a light blush called "Begonia" that would be perfect to wear with this look if you wanted to keep everything 100% neutral.
For a great daytime look, just keep in simple and chic. I decided to go for a neutral, monochromatic look; making this outfit great for the office, lunch with girlfriends, or a Saturday spent being productive (which is when I wore it!) Other ways to rock your cords during the day are with simple vneck sweaters, chambray tops, or an adorable pop of color cardigan.

Now let's take these fabulous cords into the nightlife! Again...you KNOW I love me some color, so when I saw these cords came in 14 colors I gravitated straight towards the PINK! I can't help it. I'm a pink girl. Always have been, always will be! Plus, we've been trying to put together a "capsule" wardrobe of things to wear to events, popups for my second business, XO Marshmallow, and our branding is all about the COLOR! These hot pink cords fit perfectly in that collection -- so be on the lookout for more about that soon!
To take the pink cords from day to night, I started off with my absolute favorite black motorcycle jacket. Every girl should have one in her closet. They are so chic, and the perfect way to bring any day look into evening. I traded my flats for heeled booties; black of course. And added a simple black layered tank. Yes, I know...that's a lot of black...but I wanted the pink pants to be the star. Plus, let's face it, adding black is a great and easy way to make an outfit look more "night time".
I was going out for a drink with one of my gal pals, and wanted to look chic, but fun! That's why I chose the pink for the evening look rather than for the day. If you want to take something like this fun pop color into the evening, it's best to keep everything else pretty simple. My pants were already bright and attention grabbing, so part of the reason I added so much black is to keep things sleek and simple. Heels are also a great way to take a look into the evening, and as you can see, that doesn't always mean adding crazy stilettos. I was able to take these adorable Talbots cords to drinks with the ladies by adding a heeled bootie. Same effect, but twice as comfortable.
But don't worry, these pink pants will still see the sunshine. When I wanted to wear these pink cords to a day time event, I added a simple, long white button up shirt with a navy blue crew neck sweater layered over it. I added a statement necklace (like this one) on the collar. For my shoes, I went with simple leopard print loafer flats.
The thing I love the most about both of these corduroy pants is that they are versatile. Either of them could easily be worn during the day to the office or for happy hour afterwards depending on how you style them. And with 14 colors to choose from, you really can't go wrong. Which color will you pick?!
